Join the Pack: Wolf Park Internship Program

The Wolf Park Internship Program provides hands-on experience working in a wildlife park setting. Interns begin with a two-week orientation period to learn basic procedures, safety protocols, and animal care standards.

Following orientation, interns divide their time among several departments. This includes working with the Animal Care team to assist with daily husbandry tasks, supporting operations in the Visitor Center by interacting with guests and helping lead tours, and contributing to the Grounds and Maintenance department to help maintain the park.

In addition to daily responsibilities, interns may be assigned projects that build practical skills such as organization, communication, and problem-solving. This program is designed to give a broad understanding of how a nonprofit wildlife park operates while developing transferable workplace skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a typical day like for an intern?

Each day at Wolf Park is unique and full of exciting opportunities to learn and contribute. Interns can expect a mix of hands-on tasks, such as assisting with animal care, preparing enrichment activities, or maintaining habitats, alongside learning and facilitating educational tours. You’ll also have opportunities to support our visitors center and grounds team, ensuring no two days are ever the same!

We offer onsite housing for interns, providing a comfortable and convenient living space. Intern housing is communal, with shared kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas, creating a supportive and collaborative environment. The housing is located on park property, making it easy to get to your daily responsibilities and enjoy the beauty of the park grounds.

Your personal statement, typically 2-3 paragraphs, is your chance to show us why you’re passionate about this opportunity. We want to hear about your interest in wildlife, conservation, and/or environmental education, as well as how you see this internship aligning with your personal and professional goals. Be honest, specific, and let your enthusiasm shine!

In most cases, you will hear something from our staff within five (5) to ten (10) business days. We aim to review applications and notify candidates within 2–3 weeks of the application deadline. If you have questions about your application status, feel free to reach out to our team for updates.

All applications need to be complete in order to be processed. If you’re missing a document, let us know as soon as possible so we can work with you to determine the best path forward. However, priority will be given to candidates who submit all materials by the deadline.

Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from Wolf Park, as well as meals and personal expenses during the internship. We recommend budgeting for groceries, optional outings, and any additional materials you may want for personal use during your stay. Our communal housing does require a $150 refundable deposit to secure your spot.

We have had individuals that have extended their internship, however, this is by initiation only.
