Frequently Asked Questions

What photography session is best for me?

The best photography session for you depends on your goals and experience level! If you’re a beginner or intermediate photographer looking to sharpen your skills, our Photography Workshop is ideal, offering expert tips and hands-on guidance. For more experienced photographers who prefer to focus on capturing stunning shots without instruction, our Full Photography Session is a perfect fit. If you’re seeking a quick, creative experience to capture reference material or unique images, our Mini Photography Session is a great choice.

We recommend bringing a DSLR camera for the best results, though point-and-shoot cameras are also acceptable. Phones are not permitted for use as cameras during our photography sessions. While metal tripods without foam padding (e.g., Bogan tripods) may be allowed on a case-by-case basis, most participants find them cumbersome due to the frequent movement around the enclosures and opt to go without. Please note that seating is not allowed, so come prepared to move and capture dynamic shots!

Our photography programs are focused on providing opportunities to observe and capture images of our wolves and foxes in their naturalistic habitats. While we don’t encourage or facilitate direct interactions during these sessions, our ambassador animals are socialized and may choose to engage with participants. If this occurs, we encourage participants to enjoy the moment and focus on the interaction rather than using their phones or cameras.

Participants are required to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, with boots that have good traction highly recommended due to the uneven terrain in our natural habitat enclosures. Jewelry must be removed, and rubber or plastic raincoats are not allowed. Camera bags, cases, backpacks, or fanny packs are also prohibited, so we recommend wearing clothing with pockets large enough to securely hold your gear. Bringing small dish rags or hand towels to protect your camera from snow or rain is encouraged. Additional details will be included in your Welcome Packet.

Our photography programs proceed rain or shine, as long as weather conditions are safe. However, in the event of severe or dangerous weather, such as lightning storms or extreme winds, we may need to reschedule for the safety of participants and animals. Be sure to dress appropriately for the forecast, and if there are any changes, we will notify you as soon as possible.
